Finding out where rats and mice are located and where they are active in an infested building is one of the most important tasks when planning control measures. For decades, pest controllers have used for this purpose  a simple powdery substance commonly referred to as scent dust to show where rats and mice are roaming.

Recently, however, branded products such as FLUORESCENT TRACKING DUST are available, which contains fluorescent dyes. These are not to be confused with toxic tracking dusts, which are said to kill rats and mice after they have swallowed the dust during grooming.

FLUORESCENT TRACKING DUST is simply set to the floor or other areas  scattered where rats or mice are suspected and left overnight to see if any tracks appear.
